Porter Gaud's Aaron Nesmith earned a substantial honor on Thursday when he was named as Gatorade's boys basketball Player of the Year for the state of South Carolina.
A Vanderbilt signee, Nesmith averaged 21 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game during his final high school campaign.
The 6-foot-6 senior helped lead Porter Gaud to a third straight SCISA state title this season while earning SCISA Player of the Year honors, also for the third time.
Nesmith tallied a 3.45 GPA in the classroom and scored over 2,000 career points on the hardwood for Porter Gaud.
