6-foot-4, 305-pound Gaffney offensive lineman Scottland Dover is committed to Appalachian State but three other contenders are still pitching their services to the physical blocker from the Upstate with exciting upside.

The Florida Gators were the most recent big-name Power Four program to tender the services of the talented player from the Palmetto State early last week. Dover heard of his Gators' offer via offensive line coach Robert Sale on Jan. 7.

Head coach Billy Napier's program, who recorded a strong 8-5 finish and blowout win over Tulane in the Tampa Gasparilla Bowl are making major waves in Dover's recruitment. The Gators are now already among his top schools. He tells Palmetto Preps recruiting editor and co-owner Lee Wardlaw that he plans to visit Gainesville for Florida's Junior Day.

Florida stands alongside Appalachian State, Kentucky, and Miami among his top four schools.

Dover has been committed with the Mountaineers since Nov. 7. Now it will be the job of former South Carolina offensive coordinator and new Appalachian State head coach Dowell Loggains to convince him to stay in Boone amid other major offers.
