Palmetto State hoops standouts surge in rankings

Several state of South Carolina basketball standouts have moved up in the latest rankings updates from Rivals.com.

Two local products are billed in the nation's top 25 prospects: Columbia (South Carolina) Keenan guard Jazian Gortman checks in at number 13, while Blythewood's Julian Phillips is ranked as the country's 21st-best prospect regardless of position.

In the final 2021 class rankings, several more South Carolina hoops stars also appear.

Nebraska signee Bryce McGowens is the highest, ranking as the country's number 26 prospect.

He's joined by FSU signee John Butler (#76), Ike Cornish (Maryland signee, #94), plus future South Carolina Gamecock Jacobi Wright (#111) and Wake Forest pledge Robert McCray.
