Jordon Gidron is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound wide receiver of Ridge View High School in Columbia, SC who is ranked No. 1 in the Palmetto State. The Class of 2026 prospect recently announced his Top 12 cut, and it was Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Duke, Georgia, Miami (FL), Louisiana State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee who that made the list.

The 4-star ranked No. 10 in the nation for the Class of 2026 cycle recently talked about his recruitment from the University of South Carolina with Palmetto Preps co-owner Lee Wardlaw. Head coach Shane Beamer and his program have long been pitching the speedy, dynamic, ball-hawking prospect to stay close to home with the Gamecocks. Gidron talked all things Carolina with Palmetto Preps. Here is our full conversation with him:

PALMETTO PREPS: What stood out about South Carolina that allowed the program to make the cut?

GIDRON: “They have a history of developing players and putting wide receivers in the NFL, like Alshon Jeffery, Deebo Samuel, and Xavier Leggete.”

PALMETTO PREPS: Describe your relationship with Gamecocks’ wide receivers’ coach Mike Furrey.

GIDRON: “Coach Furrey and I talk often. We talk about football, but also, fishing and family. He’s very genuine. You can tell that family is important to him. He played and coached in the NFL, so he could definitely help develop me (for) the next level.”

PALMETTO PREPS: Delve into more detail about the bond you’ve built with head coach Shane Beamer. And was the Carolina head coach able to mention a future plan or vision to you about the program?

GIDRON: “Coach Beamer is great. He calls me all the time, and says if anyone is recruiting me harder, then to let him know. We haven’t spoken about his plans for South Carolina, but I know he is focused on this season, and I’m keeping up with players like Nyckoles Harbor and Mazeo Bennett to watch how (the Gamecocks) use them.”

PALMETTO PREPS: What do you like about the the Gamecocks?

GIDRON: “I like the culture with the energy Coach Beamer and Coach Furrey have. The connection I have with the coaches is important to me and they are both genuine, which attracts me to the school. Also, (Carolina’s) style of play on offense.”

SCOUTING JORDON GIDRON

Gidron executes bubble screens, deep patterns, and anything in between with nice precision. He creates good separation with speed, physicality, athleticism, and crisp route-running.

The sophomore who could possess rare combination of size, length, and speed put a stamp on his name this spring during the Rivals Camp in Charlotte and the SCHSL State Track and Field Championships. He impressed at the big camp and clocked in with a 10.7 second 100-meter dash.

Gidron and Donovan Murph could be two of the most talented receivers to come out of the Columbia in a long time. The race is on for top programs to ink the talents of the star duo from Ridge View and Irmo. Gidron, Murph, and J'Zavien Currence of South Pointe will each play a major part in defining the Class of 2026 cycle out of the Palmetto State.
