Amidst an action-packed camp slate this summer with trips completed to N.C. State (June 7), Florida (June 10) and scheduled for Georgia Tech (June 13), South Carolina (June 14), Virginia (June 18), North Carolina (June 19), and Alabama (June 22), Sterling Sanders, an underrated, 6-foot-5, 300-pound Columbia area pass-rusher of the 5A Blythewood Bengals, has announced his collegiate pledge to an area program who has a pedigree of success in the FCS and Sun Belt Conference.

Yesterday, Sanders gave his commitment to head coach Clay Helton and the Georgia Southern University Eagles over offers from Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Connecticut, Liberty, The Citadel, Western Kentucky, and Wofford. The Palmetto State pass-rusher was also hearing of interest from Florida and South Carolina.

Sanders talked about his commitment to the Eagles in an exclusive with co-owner, Lee Wardlaw. "I knew that this was the right program for me. (Statesboro) is a big college football town, and I know that the community is going to love me. I can't wait to build a relationship with Coach Helton. I can't wait to get back down there," he said.

"They made me feel like I’m at home. The atmosphere lives up to the school name. When I made my last visit, Coach Helton seemed like a great coach," Sanders said Eagles and their head coach, who formerly led the University of Southern California program from 2015-2021.

Sanders, who looks to have a big senior season in 2024, recorded 50 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, three sacks, and ten quarterback pressures while starring under the "Friday Night Lights of the Midlands" last fall.
