last season and now, five games into the season, another defensive star has emerged and is
catching the eyes of several recruiters. Linebacker
href="http://scvarsity.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=54070">Aaron Parker
has put together a solid effort in the first few weeks of the season and it seems that it
will pay off in the way of offers.
At 6-1, 250lbs, Parker is a big bodied linebacker with excellent strength, as well as
very good agility. He's got a 4.8 40, 13 reps on 225lbs bench press, and squats 500lbs.
So far this season, Parker has collected 68 total tackles (34 solo, 34 assists) and
five tackles for loss. He also comes in at tight end and fullback as a blocker for the
Yellow Jackets.
This past weekend, the Jackets suffered a loss to the second ranked Gaffney Indians,
but Parker collected 11 tackles and 8 first hits in the game, making the honor roll for
T.L. Hanna and earning a nomination for the Anderson Area Touchdown Club Players of the
Week.
According to Parker, Middle Tennessee State is recruiting him hard and only awaiting an
Algebra II grade at the end of this semester before offering.
"Coach Stockstill is recruiting me for them," said Parker, "and wants me
as a linebacker. He says all they need is the grade to come in and I'll get the
offer."
Army, US Merchant Military, and Hampton University are all recruiting Parker as well.
Parker switched from defensive lineman to linebacker this year and has made the
transition smoothly.
"Its been fun," said Parker, "but I think the other teams are starting
to see me on film now, so I can't surprise them. I'm starting to get double teamed some
and so I'm having to learn to fight off blocks. I'll get better at that, though."
Stay tuned to SCVarsity.com as we follow this outstanding
linbacker through his senior football season and recruiting.
