at the SCVarsity.com Elite QB-WR Camp, Young has his first offer on the table.
According to his coaches at Crestwood High School, Newberry College offered
Young on Wednesday.
SCVarsity.com profiled Young in our Camp Recap on Monday and then again on
Wednesday morning.
Young got limited catches playing for the winged offense of Crestwood, but in
the camp setting was outstanding as a receiver.
Camp Evaluation:
Physical Attributes and Athleticism: Young is a tall 6-2, 179lbs. Long arms,
great vertical ability with a 32 VJ, and has large hands. Nice frame can carry
more weight.
Deep Threat Capabilities: Because of his speed, vertical ability, and ability
to adjust quickly to the ball, he can hurt you deep.
Hands: I was presently surprised by how soft Young's hands were. He attacks
the ball and makes some of his plays look like circus catches.
After the catch: Young is a physical player. As far as his ability after the
catch, since he hasn't had many balls thrown to him in game situations, its
difficult to assess how good he could be after the catch. In the camp-skills
setting, he is phenomenal. He tucks the ball, turns, and gets headed North and
South quickly.
