Bennettesville (SC) - The Marlboro County High School football program has traditionally
produced some of the state's top high school football players. Things will remain the same

with the Class of 2009 as the Bulldogs will have several players capturing the attention
of recruiters, including linebacker
href="http://scvarsity.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=74407">Tariq Edwards.
This past weekend, Edwards picked up an offer from an in-state school.
"Tariq
was offered by South Caroina," said Bulldog Head Coach Dean Boyd.
"They are probably going to offer our receiver, Kinsman Thomas, too."
"Tariq has great hands, is very smart and is a physical player, " said Boyd. "He plays tight end and linebacker for us. He had eight catches this
year for 123-yards, but mainly plays defense. He registered 81 tackles, four sacks, three
forced fumbles and two interceptions at outside linebacker.
Edwards was one of twelve Bulldogs who attended the 2007 SCVarsity.com
All-State Football Combine in Spring. He turned in very good test scores, running
a 4.7 40 yard dash, a 4.4 pro-agility shuttle, and had a 34 inch vertical jump.
He's got great awareness on the football field, regardless of the position he's
playing. Offensively, he has excellent hands, which he domonstrated at the SCV Combine, as
well as this past season for the Bulldogs. He's got good feet and hands and blocks well.
Defensively, he's got very good instincts, is great at shedding blocks and gets to the
ball.
