href="http://scvarsity.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=52329">Brandon King,
who was introduced to South Carolina last month on SCVarsity.com, generated a lot of
interest with his performance at Nike Camp in Athens. Now, with a great Spring Practice
under his belt, King is finding himself that the interest is getting serious and offers
are are close. SCVarsity.com talked with King this weekend about his practice and
recruiting.
"Practice was great," said King. "We had - I think we had - a good
Spring. I liked the offense we're running and we've moved some people around I think we're
going to be alright."
In Friday's intersquad scrimmage, King caught five touchdown passes and had no dropped
balls.
"There was one I didn't get," said King, "but it wasn't really there -
kind of went under my legs real low."
Since he's returned from Nike Camp two weeks ago and has been going through Spring
drills, King has received mail from several schools, including a hand written note from
Wake Forest commending him on an outstanding Nike camp and an invitation to their one day
camp this Summer.
And Virginia was on campus this week and are very close to offering, according to King.
"Coach said that they came down here intending to offer me," said King,
"but my transcripts from Missouri from last year are incomplete, so they need
to wait until my grades come out next week."
Other schools who have either been by and showed interest or called about the 6-6
receiver are South Carolina, Marshall, Notre Dame, Clemson and Gardner Webb.
At 6-6 1/2 and 183lbs, King has the frame that quarterbacks and offensive coordinators
drool over in a receiver. He's long, lean, and athletic and gives the Blazers' quarterback
a nice target to throw to.
King has already cracked the SCVarsity.com Top Twenty players list, and his stock will
certainly continue to climb as we go through Spring Practice and head towards the 2006
football season.
Stay tuned to SCVarsity.com as we follow one of our top rated wide
receivers through his recruiting process and his senior football season.
