Hanna's Alex Meredith winding down the process

Anderson (South Carolina) T.L. Hanna quarterback Alex Meredith is one of the state's top senior prospects, taking the helm of a strong Yellow Jacket offense under head coach Jeff Herron.

Numerous quality programs have offers out to Meredith, but he said recently that he's begun to narrow his focus.

"Right now, I’m leaning towards the academies, I think West Point in particular," he told PalmettoPreps.com at his school last week. "I’m still keeping my options open. I haven’t made that decision 100 percent, but I am leaning towards them."

Why is it Army that is standing out for Meredith?

"I’ve always wanted to serve and I really like West Point," he explained.

Both Army and Navy sent coaches to watch Meredith practice at Hanna last week, and he's used an official visit to get a closer look at West Point.

Two in-state programs also continue to draw consideration.

"I like Wofford and Furman, both of them. Both are good schools and close to home," he said.

Meredith believes he'll be verbally committed to a program within a month.

" I’m not going to make my decision until after spring ball just to see if anybody comes along and I’ll weigh my options after that."
