offer on the table and has been drawing the attention of some other schools recently.
Richburg talked to SCVarsity.com about his recruiting and the football season.
Since picking up an early offer from Presbyterian College, Berkeley High's DeAndre
Richburg has been drawing serious attention from several small DI programs across the
Southeast. One particular program that has earnestly joined the recruiting race is
Savannah State University.
"I've been communicating back and forth with the coach from Savannah State a
lot," Richburg said. "We have been in contact quite a bit. They haven't offered
yet, but things have been looking really good."
Now that a couple of new suitors are in the picture, the question is… will they be
able to beat out Presbyterian for his signature. PC has been very busy keeping close tabs
on DeAndre from day one. He has primarily been in contact with Coach Reuben Wright, and
the two of them have established quite a solid relationship. With that being said,
Richburg just recently took a visit to Clinton, SC to check out the Blue Hose…
"I went up to PC a few weekends ago on a unofficial visit," Richburg said.
"I had a chance to check out the campus/athletic facilities. I also had a chance to
meet up and talk with Coach Bentley and the rest of the staff. I enjoyed watching the team
during pre-game warm-ups; it was very intense. I had a really good time."
Richburg suffered a minor ankle injury during the Stag's first game of the season that
forced him to miss time on the field. However, Richburg told SCVarsity that he has fully
recovered, and that he is anticipating a strong finish. "I'm back to 100% now,"
Richburg said. "This past Friday I had a really good game. As a matter of fact, I
recorded two sacks. Next week we will be starting our region play. I am ready to go out
and do my thing."
